Raise A Reader
September is Literacy Month.
Raise A Reader is our ONLY Fundraiser.
We invite you to contact us and donate to our annual Raise A Reader campaign.
Your donation allows us to work together to find innovative approaches to improve literacy skills for all ages in our community.
In addition, your donation will be eligible for a percentage of matching funds from the Province of BC.
Last year we received 80% in matching funds!
Raise A Reader boosts awareness about the importance of literacy and raises much needed funds for local literacy programs.
100% of the money you contribute directly supports programs, in Chase, like Parent Child Mother Goose, One to One Children’s Literacy, Bookshelves and more.
We are proud to participate in this national Postmedia initiative.

Family Literacy Week
In the last week of January each year, Chase Literacy creates and coordinates FREE family activities that encourage everyone to ‘Unplug And Play’.
This Year:
FREE Family Skate (at the local arena).
FREE Family Bowling, Scavenger Hunt, Word Games (ideas for indoor and outdoor activities).
FREE Senior Colouring Contest, and more

Earth Day
This was our first year partnering with Chase Environmental Action Group and Chase and Area Young Learners who coordinated speakers sharing knowledge and suggestions on best practices to protect our planet.
We purchased books about Bees for each of the primary classes – class library.
We also purchased materials for families to build a birdhouse to take home.
K' Fair
In June each year, we partner with the local Health Professionals who coordinate a day of fun, and information for our community ‘Littles’ who will be starting Kindergarten in the Fall.
We provide information about reading programs, a new book, and materials to make a bookmark.
Christmas Hampers
Each Christmas season we partner with the Chase Food Bank and fill many boxes with food for community members.
Chase Literacy Programs places a new book for each child in the hampers.
Reading With Santa
Each year we partner with the Chase Country Christmas Committee.
We have a reading with Santa time where children can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus who reads a few stories.
Children choose a book to keep AND if parents chose, they may have their picture taken with Santa.
Pictures are not printed – an email is sent to the family so they may choose how to share them.
